Administrator account takeover via reset PIN brute force

Published Jun 23, 2025 · Updated Jun 23, 2025

Improper rate limiting in Aviatrix Controller before 7.1.4208, 7.2.5090, or 8.0.0 allows remote attackers to take over accounts. The password reset PIN verifier accepts unlimited guesses against a six-digit value valid for 15 minutes without invalidating the reset after repeated failures. Unauthenticated access to the reset interface and a known username, including the default admin account, are sufficient to set a new password after a correct guess.
