CVE-2025-21600

Routing daemon restart via malformed BGP update

Published Jan 9, 2025 · Updated Jan 27, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in rpd in Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to crash and restart routing via malformed BGP packets. While parsing a specifically malformed BGP update, rpd performs an out-of-bounds read that terminates the daemon. The packet must come from a directly connected, configured iBGP or eBGP peer, and the target must have BGP traceoptions or BGP-LS enabled; repeated packets sustain the interruption.
