Authenticated code execution via Digest buffer overflow
Published Feb 11, 2025 · Updated Feb 13, 2026
Remote code execution in Microsoft Digest Authentication on affected Windows releases allows remote authenticated users to run code. Microsoft maps the flaw to integer wraparound and a heap buffer overflow but has not disclosed the parsing locus or malformed field. Exploitation requires a malicious logon request to a target domain controller; successful execution can compromise the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
