Code execution via type-confusion heap overflow
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jun 9, 2026
Remote code execution in Microsoft Office Visio allows attackers to run code when a user opens a crafted Visio file. The flaw corrupts heap memory after Visio accesses a resource through an incompatible type, but Microsoft has not disclosed the parser or operation involved. Exploitation requires a user to open the file; the Preview Pane is not an attack vector, and code runs in that user's context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
