Physical-access privilege elevation
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jun 9, 2026
A heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Windows Digital Media allows physically proximate attackers to elevate privileges. Microsoft identifies an out-of-bounds read but has not published the affected code locus or the incorrect operation on untrusted media data. Exploitation requires physical access and an existing low-privilege account, and successful exploitation grants higher privileges on the affected system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
