Unauthenticated service interruption via resource exhaustion
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Uncontrolled resource consumption in Microsoft Windows Standards-Based Storage Management Service allows remote attackers to interrupt service over a network. Microsoft has not published the request type, parser, handler, or resource whose unchecked allocation or retention exhausts the service. Unauthenticated network reachability is sufficient, and successful exploitation affects availability without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
