OAID reset via unauthorized broadcast intent
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Improper intent verification in DeviceIdService in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Apr-2025 Release 1 allows local users to reset OAID. The DeviceIdService broadcast receiver accepts an intent without enforcing the access control needed to restrict its sender. A local low-privileged application can trigger the receiver without user interaction, changing OAID state and interrupting identifier continuity.
