Local code execution via malformed JPEG parsing
Published Mar 6, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Samsung Notes before 4.4.26.71 allows local attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted JPEG image. The JPEG parser fails to validate input before writing image data beyond an allocated buffer; Samsung has not disclosed the affected function. Local access is required, and successful parsing can expose process memory and run code in the application's context.
