CVE-2025-20889

Memory disclosure via malformed bitstream decoding

Published Feb 4, 2025 · Updated Feb 4, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in libsthmbc.so on Samsung Mobile Devices with Android 12, 13, and 14 allows local users to read arbitrary memory. The smp4vtd decoder processes a malformed bitstream without proper input validation, reading beyond the intended memory boundary. Triggering requires user interaction with attacker-controlled media, and the documented consequence is memory disclosure with limited availability impact.
