Local privilege escalation via dpe integer overflow
Published Jan 6, 2026 · Updated Jan 6, 2026
Integer overflow in MediaTek dpe on MT6899, MT6991, and MT8793 with Android 16.0 allows local users to escalate privileges. The dpe component performs an integer calculation that can overflow and drive an out-of-bounds write. Exploitation requires existing System privilege and no user interaction; the resulting memory corruption permits further local privilege escalation.
