Device crash via modem error mishandling
Published Dec 2, 2025 · Updated Feb 17, 2026
Reachable assertion in MediaTek Modem NR15 allows physically proximate attackers to crash a connected device through a rogue base station. The modem's error path mishandles an undisclosed error condition and reaches an assertion that terminates the system. Exploitation requires connection to an attacker-controlled base station; it needs no privileges or user interaction and only interrupts availability.
