Local privilege escalation via display use-after-free
Published Dec 2, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Use-after-free in MediaTek display code on Android 14.0, 15.0, and 16.0 allows local users with System privilege to escalate privileges. The component accesses memory after its lifetime has ended, but MediaTek has not disclosed the affected function or triggering input. Exploitation requires existing System privilege and no user interaction; successful memory corruption grants higher local privilege.
