Reachable assertion in MediaTek Modem NR17 allows physically proximate attackers to crash the modem through a rogue base station. The modem's error-handling path reaches an assertion when it processes an undisclosed exceptional condition from the connected base station. A user device must connect to an attacker-controlled base station; no privileges or user interaction are required, and the reported consequence is a modem crash.
