System crash via incorrect modem bounds check
Published Dec 2, 2025 · Updated Dec 2, 2025
Uncaught exception in MediaTek Modem NR15, NR16, NR17, and NR17R allows remote attackers to crash a device through a rogue base station. The modem applies an incorrect bounds check to attacker-controlled cellular input, triggering an uncaught exception that terminates the system. Exploitation requires the device to connect to an attacker-controlled base station; no user interaction is required, and the reported impact is a system crash.
