CVE-2025-20753Network attack vector

Remote device crash via uncaught modem exception

Published Dec 2, 2025 · Updated Dec 2, 2025

Uncaught exception in MediaTek Modem NR15 and NR16 allows remote attackers controlling a rogue base station to crash a connected device. MediaTek identifies the modem as the affected component but has not disclosed the code locus, triggering input, or exception-handling failure. Exploitation requires the UE to connect to the attacker-controlled base station; no user interaction is required, and the documented consequence is a system crash.
