CVE-2025-2075Known exploitationNetwork attack vector

Subscriber-to-Administrator escalation via unchecked REST role update

Published Apr 4, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Privilege escalation in Uncanny Owl's Uncanny Automator 6.3.0.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to gain Administrator access. The async_action REST endpoint's validate_rest_call() accepts action metadata without a capability check, letting add_role() and user_role() apply an attacker-selected role. A subscriber-level account is required; successful exploitation grants full administrative control of the WordPress site.
