CVE-2025-20746

Local privilege escalation via incorrect bounds check

Published Nov 4, 2025 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in MediaTek GNSS Service allows local users with System privilege to escalate privileges without interaction. The GNSS service applies an incorrect bounds check and writes beyond a stack buffer, but MediaTek has not disclosed the specific input path or function. Exploitation requires existing System privilege and local execution; success grants higher local privileges and can compromise data and service operation.
