Local privilege escalation via unbounded command copy

Heap overflow in MediaTek WLAN AP Driver through SDK release 7.6.7.2 allows local users with System privilege to escalate privileges. The vie_oper_proc() handler passes a user-supplied command string to sscanf() with an unbounded %s conversion into an undersized heap buffer. Triggering the flaw requires CAP_NET_ADMIN and an affected chipset running the listed SDK or OpenWrt 19.07 or 21.02; no user interaction is required.
