CVE-2025-20731Public exploit

Local privilege escalation via unchecked neighbor-report length

Published Nov 4, 2025 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Heap overflow in MediaTek WLAN AP drivers for affected chipsets allows local users with System privilege to escalate privileges. RTMPAPSetInformation passes the user-controlled ValueLen from OID_802_11_OCE_REDUCED_NEIGHBOR_REPORT to NdisMoveMemory without checking it against the 512-byte destination. The CNA states that exploitation requires System privilege when OceReducedNeighborReport is disabled and no user interaction; published PoC research instead reports that the vulnerable path requires the flag set to 1 and demonstrates a kernel crash.
