CVE-2025-20720

Adjacent privilege escalation via WLAN heap overflow

Published Oct 14, 2025 · Updated Oct 14, 2025

Heap overflow in MediaTek WLAN AP drivers on affected chipsets allows remote attackers to escalate privileges without authentication. The driver applies an incorrect bounds check before writing to a heap buffer, allowing attacker-controlled input to overwrite memory beyond the allocation. Exploitation requires adjacent wireless reachability but no user interaction or existing execution privileges, and successful attacks gain elevated privileges in the WLAN AP driver context.
