Adjacent privilege escalation via WLAN stack overflow
Published Oct 14, 2025 · Updated Oct 14, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in the MediaTek WLAN AP driver allows remote attackers to escalate privileges via adjacent wireless input. An incorrect bounds check permits an out-of-bounds write to a stack buffer, but MediaTek has not disclosed the affected routine or input field. A nearby attacker needs no prior execution privileges or user interaction; successful exploitation grants elevated privileges on devices using affected chipsets.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
