Device takeover via exposed RACE debug commands
Published Aug 4, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Missing authentication in the RACE protocol in Airoha Bluetooth audio SDK allows physically proximate attackers to gain device privileges. Factory-debug handlers accept unauthenticated RACE commands that read or write arbitrary RAM and read or rewrite flash memory. Bluetooth range is sufficient, with no pairing or user interaction required, enabling data extraction, persistent firmware modification, and device takeover.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=Airoha AB1561x/AB1562x/AB1563x SDK v3.3.1 and earlier
