CVE-2025-20678

Device crash via uncontrolled IMS recursion

Published Jun 2, 2025 · Updated Feb 17, 2026

Uncontrolled recursion in affected MediaTek modem firmware allows physically proximate attackers to crash a device through the IMS service. The service responds to an error with uncontrolled recursion rather than terminating the failing operation, ultimately crashing the system. Exploitation requires a UE to connect to an attacker-controlled rogue base station; no privileges or user interaction are required.
