CVE-2025-20659

UE crash via modem out-of-bounds read

Published Apr 7, 2025 · Updated Feb 17, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in MediaTek Modem LR12A, LR13, NR15, NR16, NR17, and NR17R allows remote attackers to crash a connected UE. The modem firmware improperly validates base-station input and reads beyond the intended buffer, causing a system crash. Exploitation requires the UE to connect to an attacker-controlled rogue base station; no privileges or user interaction are required.
