Remote privilege escalation via firmware out-of-bounds write
Published Mar 3, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
An out-of-bounds write in MediaTek wlan AP firmware SDK 7.6.7.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to escalate privileges. The wlan AP firmware improperly validates input before a memory write, allowing the write to extend beyond its intended bounds. No authentication, existing execution privileges, or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation grants elevated privileges on the affected access point.
