CVE-2025-20360Network attack vector

Detection engine restart via unchecked MIME parsing

Published Oct 15, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2026

Denial of service in Cisco products using Snort 3 allows remote attackers to restart the detection engine via crafted MIME headers. The HTTP decoder incompletely checks errors while parsing MIME fields in HTTP headers, so crafted packets on an established connection trigger an unexpected engine restart. Exploitation is unauthenticated but requires traffic to traverse an affected inspection path with Snort 3 active; the resulting interruption is limited to the detection engine restart.
