CVE-2025-20325Network attack vector

Secret-key disclosure via DEBUG cluster logging

Published Jul 7, 2025 · Updated Jul 8, 2025

Information disclosure in Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud Platform allows attackers to read the search head cluster secret key. Affected search head clusters write splunk.secret into accessible logs or internal indexes when the SHCConfig channel runs at DEBUG level. Exploitation requires local log access or administrative access to internal indexes, and exposes the shared key without reported integrity or availability impact.
