Administrator credential theft via unfiltered file upload
Published Mar 6, 2025 · Updated Mar 6, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in ChestnutCMS 1.5.0 through 1.5.2 allows remote authenticated users to run script in an administrator's browser. FileController.uploadFile accepts attacker-controlled filenames and permits HTML or PDF uploads without filtering file content, allowing stored scripts. An authenticated upload and administrator interaction are required; script execution exposes the administrator's login credentials.
