CVE-2025-20232Network attack vector

Higher-privilege risky command execution via saved searches

Published Mar 26, 2025 · Updated Mar 27, 2025

Improper access control in Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud Platform allows remote authenticated users to run risky saved searches. The /app/search/search endpoint accepts a saved-search identifier in its s parameter and runs the referenced risky command with a higher-privileged user's permissions, bypassing SPL safeguards. Exploitation requires a low-privileged account without the admin or power role and user interaction that causes a higher-privileged victim's browser to initiate the request; the published impact is sensitive-data disclosure.
