Authenticated code execution via unauthorized apptemp upload

Remote code execution in Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud Platform allows remote authenticated users to run code through a crafted file upload. The upload path writes attacker-controlled content into $SPLUNK_HOME/var/run/splunk/apptemp without enforcing authorization checks reserved for admin or power roles. A low-privileged account and user interaction are required; successful exploitation executes code in the affected Splunk service context.
