OS command injection in Cisco IOS XE Software allows remote authenticated users to read operating-system files through its web interface. The web-based management interface fails to validate crafted input before incorporating it into an operating-system command, enabling file reads. Exploitation requires low-privileged credentials and an enabled HTTP or HTTPS management interface; inactive session modules prevent exploitation over the corresponding protocol.
