Root command execution via crafted XML upload
Published Feb 5, 2025 · Updated Feb 5, 2025
Command injection in Cisco AsyncOS for Secure Email Gateway and Secure Web Appliance allows remote authenticated users to execute root commands. The web-based management interface insufficiently validates uploaded XML configuration files before passing embedded content into operating-system command processing. Valid administrator credentials and management-interface access are required; successful exploitation grants root-level command execution on the appliance.
