CVE-2025-2016

Code execution via VC6 parser type confusion

Published Mar 11, 2025 · Updated Mar 12, 2025

Type confusion in Ashlar-Vellum Cobalt 1204.91 allows attackers to execute code when a user opens a crafted VC6 file. The VC6 parser fails to validate user-supplied data before treating it as an incompatible type, enabling execution in the current process. Exploitation requires a user to open the malicious file or visit a page that supplies it, and the resulting code runs with that process's privileges.
