Code execution via VS file type confusion
Published Mar 11, 2025 · Updated Mar 12, 2025
Type confusion in Ashlar-Vellum Cobalt 1204.91 allows remote attackers to execute code by opening a crafted VS file. The VS file parser fails to validate user-supplied data before accessing it as an incompatible type, causing type confusion in the current process. Exploitation requires the target to visit malicious content or open a malicious file, and resulting code runs with the application's privileges.
