Metrics interception or manipulation via improper certificate validation
Published Jan 8, 2025 · Updated Jan 13, 2025
Improper certificate validation in Cisco ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent for macOS before 1.206.3 allows remote attackers to alter metrics traffic. The agent accepts a crafted certificate for a hosted metrics service, allowing an on-path host to masquerade as that service and monitor or change communications. Exploitation requires an on-path network position; Cisco states that affected releases are exposed regardless of device configuration.
