Authenticated client crash via unchecked post-property access
Published Jan 15, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Improper input validation in affected Mattermost 9.11, 10.0, 10.1, and 10.2 releases allows remote authenticated users to crash web clients. The web client reads post-controlled record keys without own-property checks and passes attachment field values to string handling without validating their type. An account able to publish a crafted post is required, and the documented consequence is loss of client availability rather than data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.0.0 <=10.0.3
- Affected versionversion=10.1.0 <=10.1.3
- Affected versionversion=10.2.0
