Unauthenticated file deletion via unvalidated AJAX path
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Arbitrary file deletion in WP Minds Simple WP Events 1.8.17 and earlier allows remote attackers to delete server files via AJAX. The wpe_delete_file AJAX action accepts a caller-controlled path and passes it to a file-deletion operation without sufficient path validation. No authentication or user interaction is required, and deleting wp-config.php can turn file deletion into remote code execution.
