CVE-2025-1804

Local code execution via uncontrolled DLL search

Published Mar 1, 2025 · Updated Mar 7, 2025

Uncontrolled DLL search path in Blizzard Battle.net 2.39.0.15212 on Windows allows local users to execute code through profapi.dll loading. The otherwise undisclosed profapi.dll loading logic searches an attacker-influenced path instead of resolving the trusted library from a controlled location. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and high-complexity preparation; successful loading runs attacker-supplied code with the client’s privileges.
