CVE-2025-1744Network attack vector

Memory corruption via oversized gzip header field

Published Feb 28, 2025 · Updated Feb 28, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in radare2 before 5.9.9 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via a crafted gzip header extra field. The bundled inflate() implementation subtracts the accumulated extra-field length from the caller's buffer limit without first rejecting an out-of-range offset, so a later copy bound can underflow. A reachable path processing a multipart oversized gzip extra field can over-read or overflow heap memory without authentication or user interaction; public sources identify no specific frontend or proven code execution.
