CVE-2025-1693Network attack vector

User deception via unneutralized terminal control sequences

Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated Feb 27, 2025

Control character injection in MongoDB Shell before 2.3.9 allows remote attackers to falsify terminal output via database content. The shell renders attacker-controlled cluster values without neutralizing control sequences, so crafted data can display messages that appear to come from mongosh or the operating system. Exploitation requires mongosh to connect to a partially or fully attacker-controlled cluster and a user to act on the falsified output.
