CVE-2025-1692

Code execution via control-character clipboard paste

Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated Feb 27, 2025

Control-character injection in MongoDB Shell before 2.3.9 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through a crafted clipboard paste. The interactive JavaScript REPL accepts control sequences embedded in pasted text and evaluates the obscured payload instead of rejecting those characters. Exploitation requires control of the clipboard and user interaction to paste the payload; code runs with the shell user's privileges.
