CVE-2025-1632Public exploit

Local process crash via unchecked archive pathname

Published Feb 24, 2025 · Updated Feb 24, 2025

NULL pointer dereference in bsdunzip in libarchive 3.7.0 through 3.7.7 allows local users to crash the process via a crafted ZIP archive. The list function in unzip/bsdunzip.c passes a NULL result from archive_entry_pathname() to pathname output without checking it. A local user must cause bsdunzip to list the malformed archive; the resulting dereference terminates that bsdunzip process rather than the host.
