Application crash via unchecked texture copy size
Published Jul 1, 2026 · Updated Jul 1, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in Assimp 5.4.0 through 5.4.3 allows local users to crash applications via a crafted model file. SceneCombiner::Copy derives a byte count from untrusted texture dimensions and passes it to memcpy without verifying the source pcData allocation. The public reproducer requires low-privileged local access and model processing; it demonstrates an out-of-bounds read and process crash, not code execution.
