CVE-2025-1558Network attack vector

Android app crash via improperly validated GIF

Published Mar 24, 2025 · Updated Mar 24, 2025

Improper input validation in Mattermost Mobile Apps 2.25.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to crash the Android app via a crafted GIF. The image-rendering path passes the GIF to the Android renderer without adequately validating the file first. A user must be authenticated and able to place the GIF in a message that the target opens; the reported consequence is an app crash only.
