Authenticated command execution via stored Beetl expression
Published Feb 22, 2025 · Updated Feb 24, 2025
Server-side template injection in westboy CicadasCMS 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute operating-system commands. Template Management stores an attacker-supplied Beetl expression in a selected template, and rendering the modified page evaluates the expression through Java Runtime.exec. Template-management privileges and a subsequent request to the edited page are required; successful exploitation runs commands with the CMS process account.
