Privilege escalation via cached administrator passwords
Published Mar 16, 2026 · Updated Mar 16, 2026
Sensitive-data caching in Truesec LAPSWebUI before 2.4 allows local users to recover LAPS administrator passwords from browser caches. The /Home/Password response embeds the retrieved password in HTML but omits Cache-Control, allowing browsers or proxies to retain the page. Access to a workstation or shared browser cache is required; recovered local administrator credentials enable privilege escalation on the associated computer.
