Remote SGW-C crash via exhausted bearer pool

Published Jan 17, 2026 · Updated Jan 17, 2026

Reachable assertion in Open5GS 2.7.0 through 2.7.5 allows remote attackers to crash SGW-C through GTPv2-C requests. After the configured bearer pool is exhausted, sgwc_bearer_add in src/sgwc/context.c asserts on the NULL result returned by ogs_pool_id_calloc instead of rejecting the allocation. Network access to the S11 GTP-C interface and enough crafted Create Session Requests to exhaust the pool are required; the consequence is an immediate SGW-C process abort.
