Service crash via orphan bearer response assertion
Published Jan 16, 2026 · Updated Jan 16, 2026
Denial of service in Open5GS 2.7.0 through 2.7.6 allows remote attackers to crash SGW-C or SMF with a late GTPv2 bearer response. The bearer-response handlers assert that UE, session, and bearer contexts exist after those contexts can already have been removed, terminating the process on an orphan response. Access to the GTPv2 control-plane interface and a crafted call flow are required; successful exploitation interrupts the affected core-network service.
