Unauthenticated IP-restriction bypass via trusted client headers
Published Jan 2, 2026 · Updated Jan 2, 2026
IP address spoofing in EmpireSoft EmpireCMS 8.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to bypass IP-based controls via crafted headers. The egetip function in e/class/connect.php trusts HTTP_CLIENT_IP and HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR before REMOTE_ADDR, accepting attacker-supplied addresses as the client IP. No authentication is required; the false address can evade login-attempt limits and IP allowlists or corrupt audit and database records.
