Contributor privilege escalation via unchecked option updates
Published Jan 20, 2026 · Updated Jan 20, 2026
Missing authorization in WPFunnels Creator LMS 1.1.12 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to update arbitrary WordPress options. The get_items_permissions_check function authorizes settings REST requests without requiring the manage_options capability. Contributor-level access is sufficient, and writes to security-sensitive options can grant administrative control.
